Wondering how to get 1 Million streams on Spotify? This article will help you every step of the way. The music streaming industry is undoubtedly growing at a rapid pace and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Spotify is the world’s largest streaming service today with over 345 million users since launching in 2008.

For this reason, almost every musician in the industry utilizes Spotify to get their music out to the world. The app provides a platform for independent artists and amateur musicians to showcase their music and build their following. In order to get the most out of Spotify’s service, it is necessary for artists to increase their monthly listeners and streaming numbers.

What are Spotify Streams?

When a user listens to a song for more than 30 seconds, Spotify counts it as one stream. Streams are key to understanding how your audience is finding and responding to your music. The more streams you have, the more information you can gather about your listeners in order to better market your songs and your brand.

How To Get 1 Million Spotify Streams

If you are a rising artist, you obviously want to introduce your music to the rest of the world and probably wondering how you can do so. When you have a fair amount of streams, you can get more visibility and increase your overall exposure.

With the Spotify for Artists app, data is collected from every person who listens to your song(s). This allows artists to find out who is listening to their music, where their listeners are located, what their age range is, and what other type of music they are engaging in. This data is a valuable tool for marketing yourself as an artist and bettering your chances for success in the music industry.

There are multiple ways to increase your streams on Spotify. We’re going to discuss how you can use these methods to your advantage and accelerate your music career.

Playlisting

Creating playlists gives you an extra edge to gain more Spotify streams and increase your overall listeners. Playlists are mainly theme-based and can easily be found by listeners who are looking for a particular sound or mood. Think #ThrowbackJams or #WorkoutBeats.

When you receive more streams, your playlists are more likely to get featured on a list of hot Spotify playlists. Meaning there are more chances that people will visit your profile to listen to your tracks. You can share your playlist on your social networks with proper hashtags and creative posts to drive people to follow them.

You should also reach out to playlist curators in the attempt to get your song placed on Spotify playlists. If you require help pitching your song to multiple playlists, there are plenty of services that can help you with that. You can check out our service here:

Social Media

Social Media has become a huge part of being a musician and gaining success. Cross-promotion always works great because you can leverage your existing followers to get more streams. The battle isn't just to solely get more followers and streams, but gain true fans who will actually support you and your music journey through the long run.

Share your track on your social media accounts and ask your followers to like, share, and tag the song. Try to be creative and let them know why they should follow your page and listen to your music. Fans love to see authenticity from artists, so make sure whatever you post is genuine and something your audience will want to engage with.

Oftentimes fans love to see the creative process behind the song you wrote. Sharing a short story on why you made the song or what influenced the song could be the deciding factor if they choose to like it or not.

To maximize social media, you will need a solid strategy to market yourself and your music. This will allow you to streamline your efforts in the most practical way in order to gain the most out of the platforms.

If you need an authentic and affordable social media strategy plan, then look no further. At Omari MC, we create customized and effective campaigns for artists that will increase your following and allow you to focus on what you do best - making music.

Email Marketing

While social media is a dominating force in online marketing, email has been, is, and will continue to be an important factor in artists success.

Email marketing is a good way to directly promote your tracks, EP’s, albums, or singles to fans. It is also useful for selling your music, merch, tickets, and more. Overall, it’s a more exclusive way to stay in contact with your fans and let them know the newest happenings with your brand.

MailChimp is one online email platform that artists can easily sign up for to begin their email marketing efforts. It’s free up to 2000 subscribers, and you can easily embed a form onto your website and encourage fans to sign up for your email blasts.

Create a newsletter every time you release new music, then send your song to your mailing list asking fans to listen, like, share, and follow.

It’s important to keep your message straight to the point and concise, with a clear call to action. Include a personal note or something that will incentivize your fans to do what you are asking of them, ex: “After 5000 streams on this track, I will release my next album or single”.

It’s also important to have a great subject line that will make the reader want to open your email in the first place. Keep it relevant but catchy and you’ll find that you will have a better overall open rate.

Spotify Ads

Another way to expand your Spotify reach is to promote your tracks within the platform directly. With Spotify ads, you can reach out to hundreds of thousands of people and achieve guaranteed results. This allows artists to engage listeners by running a variety of different ads including audio ads, mobile display ads, and traditional ads.

This is a good way to promote your music and gain more insight about your listeners and how to better target market them. Starting out at around $250, you can create a competitive advantage over other artists and get premium brand placement within the app.

With retweets, likes, and hashtags, artist’s new music can get more attention on the platform at no cost. People who are music fanatics enjoy engaging with their favorite artists on Twitter because the app provides a more personal feel and allows users to quickly and easily share their thoughts through tweets.

You can incorporate your Spotify link in your Twitter bio and pin your most relevant post or latest release to the top of your page. This is also a great platform to communicate and collaborate with other artists about growing each other’s reach, like mentioned above.

Don’t sleep on Twitter when thinking about platforms to help promote your music and grow your fan base!

Music Forums and Blogs

Last but not least, become active on music forums and blogs to help promote your music. Utilize any opportunity to engage in conversations with people and drops links to your newest releases.

Platforms like Reddit are great for finding large groups of people who may be interested in the type of music you are producing. It's also good for getting free feedback on your music and learning how an audience is responding to your sound.

If you are posting on your Reddit page, make sure you are consistent in order to maximize your visibility and grow your popularity.

Submitting your music to indie blogs can also help maximize your viewers and overall streaming numbers. Search for blogs who are accepting music submissions and reach out to them for a feature. Most blogs will have a contact section on their page and often charge nothing at all to get featured.

Remember, the more people you contact the better your chances are of getting accepted.

Very good content for promotion Thanks

      Dear Omari
I know you have come under some ‘trolling’ against the way in which you operate and I have watched reviews on your YouTube channel and others who do not cast the same light upon you. I do not believe you are a con artist but the only thing that worries me with Spotify promotions is that you are never given a way really of tracking who listened and one simple click from someone who for example likes Pop Music would never like my music but it would confuse the algorithm of Spotify. I have used you before and have no particular complaints but due to the nature of my music being very niche, I would not want a million clicks from any Tom, Dick or Harry. I would want it pushed into the ears of people that like certain artists which I take influence from and I know appreciate my music. Does your ‘system’ allow for such capabilities, otherwise I am throwing a net into a massive ocean and scoping up fish that will never return to my page and also Spotify is now seeing “Oh, a lot of Pop fans liked that Alt-Rock song, so suddenly your music is appearing in the completely wrong audience demographic of tastes, gender, age, geography. You surely see my point.
      Regards
      Lee.

KID TRAVIS (R&B, POP)

With an already buzzing YouTube audience of over 400K+ subscribers, Kid Travis wanted his Instagram profile to start gaining some of that same traction.

While you can get some spill over audience from YouTube, Kid Travis knew that Instagram ad campaigns could boost his presence on IG even further!

He discovered that trying to run Instagram ads yourself vs. having us add our years of experience and expertise to them made a huge difference!

His main goal was to achieve new followers who are seriously interested in his journey as an artist.

Kid Travis already had amazing talent but needed to combine his music genius with some marketing expertise to get the best of both worlds.

We were able to bring out the heart of his music through paid ads by editing & optimizing his existing videos and properly researching and structuring his ad campaigns.

The end results: We were able to consistently and predictably gain followers averaging between $0.25-$0.35 per follower (including a bulk of the promotion being done in high cost English speaking countries such as United States, United Kingdom, Australia, & Canada) resulting in around 4,000 new, engaged followers/month on Instagram.
