You know it has to be done for anyone to take you seriously in this cut throat music industry, but the engineers would likely charge in the hundreds (if not the thousands) of dollars to professionally engineer your project.

You know if you tried to mix and master it yourself it's not going to turn out nearly as good and no one is ever going to listen to a full song of yours because it's bad quality.

I'm all about quality, and will a $200 mix and master sound better than a $5 one... I sure hope so, but I'd rather you spend $5 on a decent mix and master than send in something that sounds like garbage.

There's hundreds of music submissions that come into the site every week, you'd be surprised how many get cut off 10 seconds into the song because I can tell they're not mastered.
