A hard truth for some to accept is that in today’s music industry, the internet is the best showcase for artists to make themselves known around the world. There is now less importance on touring, the quality of music itself, and huge international advertising campaigns, and more focus on the artists activity and popularity online. Although there are many different avenues for musicians to take their first steps in the industry and pave their way to success, operating the ropes can be a complex process and quite difficult without the help of outside sources.
Luckily, nowadays there are all kinds of online platforms specialized in helping independent artists to make themselves known, without the need to have a great career behind them or a million dollar contract signed with a record label. All you need is talent, a lot of motivation, and songs to share with the world, and then a great music distribution platform to take care of the rest.
But with so many distribution options out there, as an independent artist you may be wondering which one is the best and who should you use? Well, we’ve done the research and one of the top tier companies in this category is Reverbnation.
Through Reverbnation, artists who do not have much money can easily and affordably take their first steps in an increasingly exploited industry. Many believe that only those who are lucky enough to be noticed by the major record labels can succeed and earn good money as a musician - but this is far from the truth. Both Reverbnation and many other emerging platforms have come to end the dominance of the big labels by focusing on what is most important in the music industry, talent and followers.
If you are an artist who has been looking for an easy way to share all your songs and you don't want to invest too much money to make yourself known, keep reading. Below we will explain everything about this revolutionary online music distribution platform that is gaining more and more followers every day. We’ll go over Reverbnation’s main features and the reasons why we recommend any independent artist start using it.
Reverbnation is an online platform specialized in artist services such as music distribution, marketing, career development, opportunities, plus much more. The marketing mechanism of the platform works from different price rates that the artists themselves can select depending on the level of publicity they want and for the budget they have. This makes it possible for undiscovered musicians to accumulate thousands of listeners in just a few months, helping their music become known and relevant.
While it is true that the platform has a series of resources more focused on helping bands, any type of musician can benefit from it and start gaining followers around the world. Through the platform, musicians will not only be able to upload all their songs to the internet and social media sites, but they will also be able to use different advanced marketing tools and publish on the main music outlets such as Spotify, Tidal or Apple Music, while also obtaining real-time data on their audience and popularity.
The platform also offers tools that allow registered artists to befriend other artists, follow their favorite bands and singers, and share their songs and upcoming concerts through paid promotions. In addition, depending on the plan you choose, you can also create our own website as music professionals, buy domains and much more. Undoubtedly, Reverbnation brightens the future for any artist and increases their chances of success.
Reverbnation offers artists many different tools and features to help artists succeed in the industry. Though there are multiple beneficial services you can find on their website, we've listed the main ones that any musician will find to be an advantage to their careers.
One of the features that make this music distribution platform stand out from its main competitors are the marketing tools it makes available to its users. It is one of the most complete resources on the market, allowing artists to combine all kinds of online tools that will help them grow quickly on the charts. Although the amount of resources provided will depend on the amount of money the artist spends, all of the varying plans offered by the platform are beneficial and very easy to use.
For starters, artists who have a mid-rate contract will be able to combine their Twitter and Facebook accounts by linking them to their artist profile on Reverbnation, while they will also be allowed to create their own email lists for promotions.
For those who purchase a higher rate plan, they are provided with what they call a ‘basic press kit’ or EPK, to be able to start their online advertising campaigns and share it with their advertising agents (if they have them) or promoters. The platform also allows it’s most premium users to build a website through their application, purchase domains, grow a much larger email list, and gives the ability to embed their music elsewhere without the Reverbnation watermark.
They even offer tools to help you create a professionally-designed ad with their simple ad builder. Reverbnation uses advanced technology to track and remember your listeners so as you advertise, they prioritize your ads to the people who are most likely to enjoy your music. Starting at just $3 a day, you can advertise your music on huge sites like Facebook, YouTube, Pitchfork, and more.
One of the most important aspects of any independent artist's career is finding the right way to start marketing their music and selling it, but in a way that doesn't break any rules or cost them more than they actually make. Reverbnation has provided a solution to this problem because all its users who sign up for even the most basic package will be able to start selling their songs easily through the platform.
Artists get to set the price of their song and keep 87% of everything they earn. Though 87% may not seem like much, it is actually one of the highest percentages available to independent artists for direct sales.
In addition to uploading songs for others to buy, Reverbnation also offers royalty collection services from all of the music you’ve ever performed live, streamed online, or played on the radio. All you have to do is register your composition or song through the website and Reverbnation does the rest. You get to sit back while their experienced team finds and collects what you’re owed so you can focus on what you do best – writing music.
Reverbnation works with all major PROs to collect the royalties you’re owed because even if you are registered with ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC, you’re probably still not earning all of the money that’s owed to you. There is a one time set up fee of $50, no matter if you are registering one song or one-thousand songs. Artists then get to keep 85% of the publishing royalties they collect. Though it’s not 100%, this saves musicians a ton of time which is much more valuable than a 15% cut in the grand scheme of things.
The main reason why most artists end up hiring Reverbnation's services is because of the multiple possibilities it offers to get their music out to the world. They will distribute your music on all major digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and more - allowing fans the chance to discover your music anywhere and everywhere. The best part of this service is that you as an artist get to keep 100% of your royalties from the songs you distribute through Reverbnation.
All you need to do is choose an album or song you are releasing, upload the cover art, and easily drag and drop your music into Reverbnations forum and they will do the rest. You can choose from four different distribution packages, depending on how much music you want to release and how much you are willing to pay:
Another cool feature to their distribution services is that all music uploaded goes through SoundScan, which is a tracking system operated by Nielsen that uses advanced technology to track sales of music. With this, data is always being collected and provided to you, so not a single sale of your song will go undocumented or unaccounted for.
Another great aspect to Reverbnation is it’s opportunities and gig tool provided to anyone who uses the website. The platform always has numerous listings from job openings, opportunities to have your music featured in film, TV, radio, magazines, podcasts, and so much more. They post over 700 industry opportunities every year and make it possible for artists and musicians to find networking events across the world.
Even if you are searching for a specific opportunity in the industry, you can even filter out what exactly you are looking for whether it’s getting with a record label or a live performance at a festival. You can even set your preferred location of where exactly you want to seek opportunities at.
This allows you to get your foot in the door at places you would otherwise not have access to because every day the music industry seeks out ReverbNation artists to book on stages, license their songs, sign to labels and more. Again, allowing artists to be heard by the industry and stand out among the competition.
Reverbnation is a very valid music distribution platform and can be a great one stop shop for any artists looking to advance their careers in the music industry. Despite what critics say about their unequal price rates, the company has a main goal of helping independent artists succeed, and they’ve proven themselves to do just that.
Whether you are looking for an easy to use website to share your music through different streaming services and social media platforms, looking to sell your music and collect royalties, build a professional website, EPK, or find industry opportunities, Reverbnation can help with all of it.

I love ReverbNation a 100 percent USA number 1 🇺🇸 Danto Palomino [email protected]
I use it for myself as my music page it’s easy
to use and very good but if you pay for any
of their service forget it. I never did it’s a
scam. and most who fan you are not fans
they just want you to fan them so unless
they leave a comment on a song I dont’
bother with them. I write some of the
best songs and have a unique original
voice and ? nothing! no real producers
record people obviously don’t listen!
What is included in premium ? Do you supply websites with web pages ? a player that can be embedded
Can you direct me to the templates
Thanks Ronnie
