How To Breeze Past Your Competition In Music

I've got good news and bad news. Well sort of.

The good news is that if you're a serious artist reading this than I'm about to make your life a whole lot easier!

The bad news is that this article may wake up some of those slacking musicians out there and it will increase your competition, but we'll try to look on the bright side of things.

There's this myth surrounding independent artists that there is just too much competition to succeed in today's music world, but I'm calling foul. Here's why...

I consult with literally thousands of independent artists every month. The first time I talk with them they're all fired up and ready to learn what to do to succeed in the big and bad music industry. However, like clockwork most begin to fall off one by one.

I get it. It happens sometimes. Especially when you've been pursuing music for so long and not seeing the results you dreamed of as a kid, but the artists who sacrifice what they have for their career do see the light of day at the end of the dark tunnel.

I have people tell me all the time how much they've put into their music. Do I feel some sympathy? A little. I'm human after all. But then I think of how much they haven't sacrificed and I snap back into reality.

The definition of hard work and sacrifice is so drastically undermined by some of these artists it's not even funny.

People rarely want a career in music as badly as they say they do. Keep reading this article and you'll find out how I can back up this claim.

Some people may get mad at that statement, but I'm a no excuse kind of guy. I wish someone would have kicked my behind in gear sooner and told me about all the time I was wasting by procrastinating with my career back in the day.

However, let's look at the benefits, if you're a truly serious independent artist you can use this to your advantage!

Stay with me on this. Those millions and millions of self titled 'artists' out there may make a lot of noise, but when it comes time to get down and dirty and get to work, they're no where to be found and are always looking for the easy way out.

Don't believe me? Go look for yourself. How many artists have invested in a proper sales system, learned how to write good copy, and implemented a funnel into their independent music structure... Not many.

Free should be a four letter word when it comes to some aspects of your music career. 

I know sometimes we need a temporary fix and have to go with free solutions when times are rough, but the key word here is temporary.

All the artists looking for freebies everywhere remain stagnant with their careers.

But here's where the benefits start to roll in! If you're a truly serious artist and have the elements listed above in place for your music you're already light years ahead of most of the crowd!

Suddenly those millions of competitors turns into just thousands by filtering out that section of the crowd who simply isn't willing to take that step for their music.

Is there still competition? Yes, but it's so decreased that the chances of succeeding rise astronomically.
