Selling your band’s merchandise at shows when people are hype for your sound is one thing, but selling it online is a whole different ball game. Sure, they like the product, but why do they need it? Why should they spend their hard-earned money on it? With online sales, you lose the rush and excitement of the concert as a selling point as well as a salesman. Your product description and presentation have to do the selling for you.
One of the hardships of selling online is that the consumer can’t physically see or touch the merchandise before purchasing. It’s important to make a well-detailed product description and use a professional-quality and appealing image of the product that can help to serve your marketing purposes. Figure out your target demographic for each product and display the product in a way that would be appealing to them.
Use an image that shows a practical use for the product. If it’s a flag, use an image of it on the wall or on a flag pole. If it’s a shirt, have a model that fits into the target audience wearing it to appeal to them. You should also make sure the description of the product is as detailed as possible so the customer is satisfied knowing all they need to about their product before purchasing.
Selling merchandise on your band’s website can be a little trickier than at a concert. You lose your salesman as well as the customer’s ability to physically touch the product. This can make the sale difficult, but not impossible. With detailed product descriptions, good images, and being sure you let the customer know why they need the product, you’re set up for success.
